Frequently Asked Questions

What do you mean by LGBTQ* friendly Christian Camp?

At Camp Genesis we believe God has made everyone of us who we are with intention, and that our diversity is something to be celebrated! We know that many of our campers may be too young to fully understand what being LGBTQ* means, but we want them to know that camp is a safe space where they can be themselves. When we're talking about faith we'll be focusing on passages that explore ideas like the power of love, determination, and bravery. Of course we'll also be doing a lot of art and having tons of fun along the way!

What Does an average day at Camp Genesis look like?

Each day of camp is filled with different activities and workshops, but each day follows the same basic format. Click the PDF icon to take a look at our schedule outline!

Schedule

What To Bring?

- Comfortable Shoes: campers will be active and on their feet a lot throughout the day, and we want everyone to be as comfortable as possible.

- Sunscreen: We’ll  be spending sometime in the church garden weather permitting, and we don’t want anyone getting burnt.

- Rain Jacket: Hopefully we won’t need it, but just in case!

- Painting Clothes: Sometimes you can’t help but get a little messy when you’re creating! So please make sure that your camper comes in casual clothes that may get stained. We’ll be using paint, markers, and tie dye throughout the week, so there’s lots of opportunity for mess. A smock or apron might also be a good idea.

- Water Bottle: staying hydrated keeps everyone a happy camper!

- Lunch: don’t forget!

Is there any financial assistance available?

We want as many kids to come to camp as possible, which is why we try to keep our fees low. If the camp fees are all that's stopping your camper from coming please email us and we'll try to work something out!

Is Camp Genesis Accessible?

St. Mary's Road United Church is not a fully accessible building, but we're doing our best to limit camp activities to the portion that is. Please email us if you have any accessibility concerns, and we'd be more than happy to work with you to figure out a plan!

Can I donate to Camp Genesis?

Definitely! Monetary grants and donations help us keep our fees low. We'd also love donations of supplies, and you can check out the list of supplies we need most by clicking the hedgehog icon. You might even have these items at home!

What's next for camp Genesis?

Camp Genesis is hoping to launch a full eight weeks of summer programming in 2020, so keep us in mind when you're making plans for next year!
